A lot of people a sense of lethargy or tiredness take over in the winter months. The lack of sunlight and cold temperatures can affect mood and energy levels. I love this time of year because our summers are very hot. I appreciate the change of temperature. Here are some things that help me to keep up energy levels and feel good in the winter.

  1. Tea. I am a huge fan of sipping tea in the winter, and really, in the summer too. My current favorite is green tea. I usually pick up whatever is on sale at Whole Foods, but I especially love the bulk tea section at my local Central Market, which is seriously the most amazing grocery store ever. I really like the rishi brand of teas they carry in bulk, as well as Lahaha. On amazon I often purchase Vadham. I will put all of the links in to this article (especially some really premium brands of Darjeeling, Bengal’s favorite) that I have discovered on Amazon as soon as my classes are over this week.
  2. Skin care. I have become a huge fan of skin care, especially in the winter. I try to stick to clean beauty brands, but I love a good mask, toner, eye cream, sugar scrub, and face oil. All of these help me to feel refreshed and moisturized for the winter.
  3. Excersize. I know this is a straightforward no brainer, but exercising in the winter really helps me to feel energized. I go to the gym and literally do 40–45 minutes on the treadmill almost every single day and it make a a huge difference in my energy levels as well as any extra holiday pounds.

What are some strategies you use to feel energized and happy in the winter?
