Ok, I know it might be a little ridiculous to write a WHOLE POST about a condiment, but I am seriously obsessed with the chili crisp from Pig and Tiger (Boulder, CO).

Boulder is one of our favorite places to travel. Beautiful mountains, scenery, culture, and people. It is a super progressive, artistic little town north of Denver. Indrajit has had multiple concerts there, and we usually go along with him. We almost always visit Estes Park to feed the little chipmunks and travel to the amazing Indian Hot Springs. Boulder is just a beautiful place to visit.

Anyways, back to the chili crisp. This little condiment is made from dried chilies, black beans, scallions, canola oil, salt, mushroom powder, shallots, garlic, sesame, ginger, black cardamom, coriander, orange, and spices (I might have to reach out to them to find out what other spices they use).

It is just so spicy, savory, and flavorful. I add it to rice, noodles, vegetables, and basically anything besides ice cream. So so good. I have tried a few other chili crisp formulas (like this one) but I think Pig and Tiger’s is the best one I have had.

The chilies are perfectly crispy, and the orange and coriander flavors just really complement the spiciness. It’s this flowery, spicy, citrusy aroma. As you can see, I am running pretty low.

Unfortunately it does not seem like they ship it so I guess I will have to go back to Avanti in Boulder to restock, which is a really cool little hub of restaurants in the middle of the Pearl Street Mall. They also have a splashpad across the street there that is so fun for toddlers and kids.

What condiments do you love?
